Basic Information Tell us a bit about yourself.

I Would Describe Myself As I am currently a mathematics graduate student attempting to pursue his PhD in Applied Mathematics. Originally from Northwest Louisiana where I lived for almost 24 years, I have resided in Texas for over 7 years and in Lubbock for the last four.

Occasionally, I enjoy watching television shows and movies involving sci-fi story lines typical to those found in Smallville, Heroes and Lost as well as a good comedy that makes me laugh until I cry.

Beneath my fuzzy, broad exterior, you will find a big kid at heart who still enjoys using his imagination, sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons while eating massive amounts of cereal, and collecting teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

Spiritually, my quest has its roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition, and along the way I have discovered that Yahweh (YHWH) is someone who neither can nor will be contained by the "nice, neat box" that certain religious people have tried to create for "him". As a result, I am interested in learning about and participating in the spiritual journey of others.

I am the type of person who goes out of my way to help someone, and although generally I am peaceable, I will not hesitate to intervene if the situation calls for it.

I love reading series--especially juvenile fantasy fiction, but I find sometimes that I must force myself to sit down to begin reading. I have read in the last few years the Harry Potter series, the Inheritance Cycle, His Dark Materials series, the Chronicles of Narnia, the Time Quartet (A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet and Many Waters), the Wicked Trilogy, and the Hitchhiker's Trilogy and am currently reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

Despite the meager size of my present resources--both time and money, there is little I find I lack in my daily life--for the time being. However, I do note they make things like traveling to meet or visit friends much more difficult.

I am a huge Apple fan and might have already joined the "Cult of Apple" if it were not for my lack of finances and tendency to want to remain objective. That being said--yes, I do own an iPhone (just a 3G), an iMac (just a pre-Intel G5) and a Macbook Pro and would upgrade them and buy several other Apple peripherals (Time Capsule and Magic Trackpad) had I the extra funds. Additionally, I subscribe to MobileMe and several Apple and iPhone oriented video podcasts.

There are many more details about myself I could divulge right now, but I prefer to retain a bit of mystery and to allow you the opportunity to unearth them yourself.
